A Two Step Solution Procedure to a Fuzzy Medical Waste Disposal Facility Location Problem
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper handles the medical waste disposal facility location problem in Istanbul by using fuzzy TOPSIS (FETOPSIS) to select the adequate place between some candidate points that are obtained from the Ishii’s undesirable facility location algorithm. Medical waste must be disposed without damaging environment and human health, complying with new regulations. The aim is to provide an alternative method to the medical waste disposal facility location problem in Istanbul, able to handle the fuzziness of the real world. People attempt to minimize the undesirable effects introduced by the new facility by maximizing its minimum Euclidean distance with respect to all demand points and also to minimize the total transportation costs. This study proposes a modified model of Ishii’s algorithm to obtain a list of candidate points. Then a selection is made between these candidate points considering other criteria as earthquake risk, distance to natural water sources and level of air pollution. Keywords— Undesirable Facility Location, Maximin, FETOPSIS, Medical Waste, Euclidean Distances.

متن کاملA Multi-objective Model for Location of Transfer Stations: Case Study in Waste Management System of Tehran
This paper presents a multi-objective optimization model for the design of a waste management system consisting of customers, transfer stations, landfills and collection vehicles. The developed model aims to simultaneously minimize the total costs, greenhouse gas emissions and the rates of energy consumption. To tackle the multiple objectives in the problem, we utilize an interactive fuzzy prog...

Proposing a hierarchical group compromise method can be regarded as a one of major multi-attributes decision-making tool that can be introduced to rank the possible alternatives among conflict criteria. Decision makers’ (DMs’) judgments are considered as imprecise or fuzzy in complex and hesitant situations. In the group decision making, an aggregation of DMs’ judgments and fuzzy group compromi...
متن کاملSolving a bi-objective location routing problem by a NSGA-II combined with clustering approach: application in waste collection problem
It is observed that the separated design of location for depots and routing for servicing customers often reach a suboptimal solution. So, solving location and routing problem simultaneously could achieve better results. In this paper, waste collection problem is considered with regard to economic and societal objective functions. A non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is used to l...
متن کاملA Bi-Level Meta-heuristic Approach for a Hazardous Waste Management Problem
This study concentrates on designing a medical waste management system with a hierarchical structure, including a local government and a waste management planner. The upper-level seeks to design and control the waste management facilities by minimizing the environmental risks related to the disposal of medical waste. While the lower-level model is to determine the waste collection plans by only...
